It is difficult, if not impossible, to grow a startup these days without a strong web presence. Without a significant advertising budget, online promotions via websites and social media are the only way to build a brand.
Of course, web sites don't code themselves. They require skilled web developers to design them and prepare them for launch. Sometimes, however, this is a problem. As it turns out, there are far more startups seeking skilled web developers than there are available developers.
According to an article on IT World, about three-quarters of startups that responded to a recent survey said they are struggling to find the right talent for their operations. Nearly half cited this reason for their failure in the market.
Thirty-eight percent of the respondents specifically named lacked of skilled web designers when asked what kind of talented individuals they were looking for.
"It is alarming to see the extent of staffing challenges in the start-up community," Startup Institute founder Aaron O'Hearn told the news source. "While there is much talk about start-up hubs thriving, there is a real danger they won't reach their full potential because the talent pipeline is not strong enough."
Startups are not the only entities that have problems recruiting talented individuals. Though there are many career opportunities in Houston as a result of rapid economic growth in Texas, companies have had trouble locating people to take their businesses online.
For those who do happen to have web development skills, now may be a great time to consider your options.
