There's always a lot of exciting energy and information technology news happening in Houston.

Energy makes up half of Houston's local economy - Following the Great Recession, Houston's economy was able to recover more quickly than other parts of the country thanks to its robust energy industry, according to the Houston Chronicle. 

Houston energy company purchases Inergy LP for $7.3 billion - The Kansas City Business Journal reports that Houston-based Crestwood Midstream Partners LP and Crestwood Holdings LLC signed a deal to combine operations with Inergy LP, which operates out of Kansas City, Missouri. This is a "truly a transformational deal for both firms," says Crestwood CEO Robert Phillips. 

Oil industry in small Texas town benefits local businesses – Barnhart, which is located 250 miles west of Austin and has only residents, "is the center of our petroleum universe," Texas Pacifico Transportation Ltd's vice president of sales, Elizabeth Grindstaff, told The Wall Street Journal.
