Temporary power companies provide solutions for well sites in the Eagle Ford Shale region.

With the oil and gas industry in Texas' Eagle Ford Shale region continuing to grow at a steady pace, there comes the need for businesses in other fields to support these large infrastructures and their demands. According to FuelFix, a number of power companies — such as Scotland-based Aggreko — are expanding across the southern part of the Lone Star State to accommodate needs among energy businesses in Houston and the surrounding area.

Since it could take years before well sites in the Eagle Ford Shale region are hooked up to the electric grid, these temporary solutions are able to service the facilities in the meantime.

"Brian Fahnestock, a vice president and general manager of the mid-south region for Houston-based Aggreko North America, said the company can provide power to a number of well sites in a matter of weeks, and often provides power to hundreds of acres at a time," notes the source.

There are plenty of energy and IT jobs in Houston and other parts of Texas thanks to the state's lucrative oil and gas industry, which is expected to keep growing at a rapid pace over the years. With this in mind, professionals hoping to further their careers in this exciting field may want to see what kinds of jobs are available.
